Frequently Asked Questions

I was shooting with batteries with no problems, then switched to an AC supply, and now have intermittent alarms while attempting to shoot. What do I do?

Over the years we have received many calls like this. Often the problem is caused by marginal DC output of the AC power supplies. With marginal AC and/or power supplies, the microcomputer inside the camcorders may "get stupid" and corrupt internal data streams, causing all sorts of operational errors. For example, you may encounter a flashing error light with no error code in the display; recording stopping or starting by itself; audio cutting off in middle of recording, or the camera itself becoming totally inoperable.

Often ‘rebooting’ or just powering down and back up seems to fix this for a time. What is often happening is that the DC power gets interrupted by any number of AC conditions (such as low voltage, noise on line, etc.)

Switching to batteries often eliminates the problem. Run the rest of the shoot on batteries or try different AC outlet, especially on a separate circuit from you lighting. The voltage drop from the high load of lights could be the problem.
