One of our clients received block damage while shooting on an aircraft carrier. The camera took a direct hit of the ship’s radar through the lens, causing the green imager to burn up.

I would also be careful when allowing sunlight to remain focused for any length of time on any camera. I have not seen any damaged blocks, but I would be careful anyway. Please email me if you have had any sunlight damaged CCDs.
