Two years ago I approached Roger Macie, of Macie Video, to help out with the engineering of a four-HD-camera PBS show we would be shooting in Southern Vermont.   I knew Roger had done some location engineering, and hoped the added enticement of Vermont at peak fall foliage season along with the prospect of three-weeks of incredible food, (we were shooting a cooking show) might be enough to pull him away from the work-bench.
Roger not only matched the four Panasonic AJ-HDC27H Varicams, he made them look better than I'd seen them look in the four-plus years we had
owned them.     During the second week of shooting, we had the ultimate nightmare occur - one camera began acting up. Roger was able to analyze the camera problem (the camera was overheating) and come up with a simple solution of placing the camera directly over the floor air conditioning duct to keep it cool until a replacement could make the four hour trip to Southern Vermont.
Directing a multi-camera cooking show, where food timing is critical, when we need to roll, we really need to roll! Roger Macie is simply the best there is. That he makes it look so easy, and with such an easy-going, calm composure, well these qualities make him a treasure!
I have never really been a believer in catchy company slogans, but Macie Video truly is, “Setting the Standard.” I'd say that is pretty accurate.
